About Dr. Roseann
Clinician, author and mom. Nervous system first.
Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge, Ed.D., is a licensed professional counselor, certified school psychologist and board-certified neurofeedback specialist with 30+ years helping dysregulated kids and their families.

Her story
What 30 years in the room taught her
From her office in Ridgefield, Connecticut, Dr. Roseann has sat with thousands of families who had tried everything. Charts. Rewards. Consequences. Therapy. Medication. The children were labeled defiant, lazy or "just ADHD" — and the labels often missed what was actually going on.
"In all those years of working, over 30 years with people, 50% of the people who came to me had a diagnosis of ADHD, but didn't [actually have it]."
Dr. Roseann on the Rational Wellness Podcast (#472).
Through brain mapping — more than 10,000 QEEG maps interpreted — neurofeedback and decades of clinical work, she saw the pattern underneath: an overloaded, dysregulated nervous system. When the brain is calm, behavior follows.
It's personal, too. She's a mom of two neurodivergent sons — one with dyslexia, one with PANS — and the daughter of a no-nonsense Italian mother whose lessons show up in her work (and on her podcast). She knows the exhaustion from both sides of the desk.

Her approach
Regulation First Parenting®
"Your child isn't giving you a hard time. They're having a hard time." Every tool she teaches follows one order.
Regulate
Calm the nervous system first — yours, then your child's. A dysregulated brain can't access logic, learning or self-control.
Connect
Relationship before compliance. Co-regulation is the most powerful tool you have in your pocket.
Correct
Now teaching lands. Boundaries, skills and consequences work better once the brain is calm and connected.
Inside the CALMS® Dysregulation Protocol®
Her five-part framework for the hard moments, taught in the book, Quick Calm™ and CALMS Certification®.
